The Department of Commerce, St Aloysius College organized a talk on “Drug Abuse and its Measures” on 26 June 2018 at Eric Mathais Hall. The dignitaries for the day were Dr Mahabalesh Shetty, HOD, Dept of Forensic Science, K.S. Hegde Medical Academy,
Derlakatte & Forensic Expert for Mangalore Police, Mr Udaya Nayak, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Central Division Mr Pradeep Sub-inspector, North Police Station, Dr Bhaskar & Mr Ganesh, Social Activist.
The session began with a brief introduction about drug trafficking in Mangalore by Mr Udaya Nayak. He explained to the students about the drug trafficking taking place in our surroundings. He requested the students to prevent the usage of narcotic drug and he informed the students about various helplines.
The chief guest for the day Dr Mahabalesh Shetty gave us detailed information about various types of drugs and its effect on human health. He also explained the various reasons as to why a person gets involved into drugs and later becomes an addict. Towards the end of the session the students were advised about the usage of drugs and its effects and the diocese was open to all questions.
