Outreach

The students and teaching staff are actively involved in academic as well as social outreach activities both inside as well as outside the college. A good number of our staff and students are involved in student association guiding them in organizing various events both within and outside the campus.

SAHAAYA
In order to create a sense of ‘social responsibility’ among students, the college has embarked on an innovative awareness programme called SAHAAYA to the Under Graduate students, thereby aims at fulfilling the mission of the college of ‘Preparing men and women for and with others’. This programme demonstrates the crux of Jesuit Education which follows the pedagogy of learning; Context- Experience-Reflection- Action-Evaluation.

Centre For Social Concern (CSC)
Center for Social concern from last 8 years has been actively engaged in working for and with the marginalized with the intension of addressing various community needs and developing social awareness among students and staff. Centre organizes various activities / programmes in eight communities and students through associations or as volunteers taking active part in these activities.

Rural Exposure Programme
St Aloysius College (Autonomous) is committed to form the Postgraduate students as “Men and women for and with others who are socially responsible” so that they become powerful force in the transformation of society. In this regard, every Postgraduate student of this college are expected to get a living experience in the marked villages for five days.

Conclusion
A higher educational institution has to integrate itself with the society. St Aloysius has a very strong base in inculcating compassionate attitude among students. The extension activities through the Centre for Social Concern in the forms of Sahaaya and rural Immersion have helped the institution to reach out to the society. The community Radio and the value education sessions have further facilitated the social outreach programmes.
