The Inaugural Ceremony of the Students’ Council, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) was held on Tuesday, 19 June 2018 in the LCRI Hall.
Prof. B.S. Nagendra Prakash, Registrar, Mangalore University was the Chief Guest. Rev Fr Dionysius Vaz, SJ, Rector, St Aloysius Institutions presided over the function. The formal inauguration was done by lighting the lamp. This was followed by administering the Oath by Rev Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Principal of St Aloysius College, to Relston Stuart Lobo, III B.Com., the newly elected Student President. Rev Dr Praveen Martis in his message encouraged the students for their project - “One Rupee Coin Revolution”. He also stressed the student to adopt heroic leadership and to take leadership with special responsibility. He also congratulated the members of Student’s Council.
Prof. B.S. Nagendra Prakash, in his inaugural address congratulated the students and said that the students should take up the responsibility of making the campus a much greener campus. He also appreciated the “One Rupee Coin Revolution”, an initiative to help the economically weaker students. He also urged the students to make the campus Plastic Free Campus.
Rev Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, in his presidential address, congratulated the members of Students Council. He said “Leadership is about choices, choices are made out of vision. He urged the Students to develop participatory power which is necessary for leadership. He advised them to become agents of change.
The elected members of Students’ Council for the academic year 2018-19 are: Relston Stuart Lobo, III B.Com., President of Students’ Council, Jini Sherly Saji, III BA., Vice-president, Rupal DSouza, II B.Sc., Secretary of Students’ Council and Lloyd Vineeth Sequeira, II B.Sc., Joint Secretary. Roshan Santhosh, III BBA as Deputy Speaker and Abdullah Nangarath, II BBA as Deputy Speaker.
During the programme, Moosa Fazil, a student of II BBA, who is also a Graphic Design Expert and the youngest CEO and entrepreneur of India, was honoured for his creditable achievements and securing several awards including Google Certification and Facebook Certification. Fazil has been certified by Google after successfully completing the Online Marketing Fundamentals Qualification. He has completed 106 lessons and 26 Badges of Google Digital Unlocked. The course consists of 23 modules covering wide range of subjects from marketing fundamentals such as search, email, social media, display, video, e-commerce, geo-targeting and analytics.
Students Council Director, Dr. Ratan Mohunta welcomed the gathering. Assistant Director, Dr Santhosh Goveas was present on the occasion. Giselle Fernandes, III BBA compered the programme and Students’ Council President, Relston Lobo proposed the vote of thanks.
